“We launched the Mecalac MCR concept in the Australia back in 2014 – one machine that can dig, load, handle pallets and be used as a tool holder – and the acceptance was really fantastic,” said Phil Shepley, Managing Director at Mecalac Australia. “People had never seen it before, but immediately they understood the benefits.”
Mecalac has designed its MCR so that it is compact at both the rear and the front. They can also drive at twice the speed of a standard tracked excavator, 10kph, allowing them to move round the jobsite faster and with more torque, thanks to the closed loop hydrostatic drive train, same system found in track loaders.
The MCR series excavators can also be used as loaders, using skid or loader buckets in the reversed position to move larger volumes. The bucket is supported against the blade so that the force of the thrust is transmitted directly from the undercarriage to the bucket.
The excavators feature Mecalac’s patented boom which folds backwards at 130° backwards, acting as a counterweight to provide stability. This allows them to lift 40% of their own weight, significantly more than any other excavator on the market, perfect for drainage, vegetation control, handling, and loader work.
The MCR range consists of the 6t 6MCR, 8t 8MCR and the 10t 10MCR. Each model has high power, and high auxiliary flow for demanding attachments.
Mecalac offer a range of attachments including a skid steer adaptor, allowing you to use any universal hitch skid steer attachment on your MCR. Detachable tilt hitches, and tiltrotators are also common options supplied and fitted by the team at Mecalac Australia.
With the ability to work 100% as an excavator and 100% as a track loader, the MCR is a fantastic option to reduce overheads and equipment outlay, as you can replace an excavator, track loader and the need for a TAG trailer with one high performance machine.
