The Cover Era / Allied Earthmovers Association

Things change quickly and hindsight is a wonderful thing. Even the writing of this article will seem ignorant and outdated by the time it is printed. But that is how times are in the COVID-19 era.

Our Association’s first meeting of the year in February allowed us legally to have 50 people, and although we didn’t quite reach that number, we had a great roll-up for our “Boys Toys” meeting at the quaint country village of Mulgoa, just 10kms from Badgerys Creek Airport otherwise known as Western Sydney International (Nancy Bird-Walton) Airport. We welcomed a new member Rob from Colo Vale and also our newest sponsor Anthony Rahme from Sydney Commercial Finance. We encourage them to make the most of membership – members who get the most out of the Association are usually those who put the most in. It was proved once again that meetings are the place to go to pick up work – the networking and camaraderie at meeting is what makes the Association unique.

This meeting was the beginning of a new year with our energetic committee instigating some exciting new ideas for the Association. The Committee’s first call was to offer a 25% discount on membership to all members for the 2020-21 year. Although this saving doesn’t equate to winning Lotto, it has definitely helped members during a difficult time and made them realise that the Association doesn’t exist to make a profit, but to help owner operators in their efforts to run a small business. We have also had cause to use our Sickness and Injury Benefit fund this year to help out members during downtime due to injury. As owner operators, we know we’re on our own, always with the risk that things don’t go to plan and this is another way we can help out our members and let them know that we are there to support them.

The next exciting undertaking is the members’ giveaway of a Spitwater Diesel High Pressure Water machine valued at $5,700 to give away at our annual Awards Night supplied by one of our longest supporting sponsors Joe Galea from Spitwater. All members are entitled to a ticket each time they attend a meeting or Association event. This machine will be on display on our stand at the Diesel Dirt and Turf Expo at Eastern Creek Dragway and any new (or existing) member will be eligible to a ticket or tickets in the draw.

Our March meeting was generously hosted by Phil Arane from Austas and we thank him and his team for a great night. We welcomed a new member, Rob from Colo Vale, and we also welcomed Peter from Moody Kiddell and Barry and Sarah from Austbrokers AEI Transport. We had a special visit from Joe Galea from Spitwater who brought along the high-pressure machine to show members what is up for grabs at the end of the year. As well as good food and excellent networking time members also took home a hi-vis fleece for the coming winter months on site.

Our next Trade Night in April will be hosted by Bryce Gibson and Anthony Brown at Hitachi Construction Machinery at Revesby in April.  Please give us a call if you are an owner operator and would like to come along and see how we work.

If this seems like your “jam” why not give us a call on 02 4732 5233 or visit us at Diesel Dirt & Turf Expo and put your ticket in the draw!
