How dangerous is a construction site?
We surely see warning signs all around, but how many hidden pitfalls are there? We recently came across one so well concealed we didn’t even know it was there.
Usually, we are involved in reusing the material after processing it with our greatest pride: the jaw crusher bucket. But this time it is not all about the product, it is about the housekeeping.
Honesty we did not see this coming. There was plenty of space at this site. The choice took us by surprise.
This company had already a big mobile crusher but move it site-to-site to process a medium-small amount of demolition debris was simply not worthy. Housekeeping was not even a problem until they saw the solution, a jaw crusher bucket BF80.3 for their Hitachi Zaxis 210LC excavator.
This company knew that allowing the material to build-up on the floor was a waste of time, money and energy since additional time is required for cleaning it up.
Every day now demolition debris is reduced with the jaw crusher bucket BF80.3 and the reduced material is neatly stored till needed again. A simple daily task that permits the company to have a clean and tidy area.
Also as the MB jaw crusher bucket output can be adjusted from 15mm to 135 mm, with all measurement in between, by crushing daily they reduced the handling and eased the flow of materials. Moreover, they don’t sustain disposal costs anymore and when needed the product is always available to be used immediately.
There is a lot at stake in the workplace, bad housekeeping can have consequences that go far beyond creating a messy image. Good housekeeping is not just cleanliness, it helps to eliminate workplace hazard. We have learned that periodic “panic” cleanups are costly and ineffective in reducing incidents.
We came to realize that effective housekeeping is an ongoing operation: it is not a one-time or hit-and-miss cleanup done occasionally.
What are the benefits?
Clutter-free areas, freedom of manoeuvre and less tripping incidents. More effective use of space. Lower worker exposures to dust can be achieved by using the kit dust suppressor of the MB Crusher buckets. Improved productivity, tools and material ready to use.
With an MB Crusher bucket, they began a good housekeeping program. Works areas are not used as storage areas, a day-to-day cleanup and removal of unused material implement also the grading and the sorting of recycled material.
The costs of this investment have been offset by the elimination of repeated handling of the same material and more effective use of the workers’ time. Often, ineffective or insufficient storage planning results in material being handled too many times and being stored in hazardous ways.
Not to mention the possibilities for injury, how easy is to trip over debris on the floor, or hurt ourselves while walking past heavy or sharp objects laying around or protruding from a pile?
By simply using the crusher bucket everyday housekeeping is maintained. With an MB crusher bucket, the worksite is safer, tidier, and consequently sustainable.
The best solution is so simple and yet unexpected.
